nhs.uk DNS Change Request Freezes – commencing Wednesday 15 February

N3 Service Provider will shortly be making planned updates to the management system used to submit nhs.uk namespace DNS change requests, by CFH in England and NSS in Scotland.

N3SP operates the nhs.uk DNS domain servers/service on behalf of the NHS. The nhs.uk DNS namespace is used by the DNS 'externally‘ on the public Internet and 'internally' on N3 and other NHS private networks.

This will require the following DNS change request 'freezes':

  • No change requests  - Wednesday 15 February 00:01 GMT to Friday 17 February 23:59 GMT
  • Urgent change requests only -  Monday 20 February 00:01 GMT to Friday 24 February 23:59 GMT

NHS organisations and suppliers are advised to schedule/reschedule planned work involving DNS zone or record changes to avoid these dates.  Change requests can still be submitted to CFH and DNS during the freeze periods, however they will be categorised as urgent or standard and subject to delay accordingly.

N3SP apologises for any inconvenience caused. Please note - the underlying live DNS service will operate as normal during the change/freeze period.

Queries from NHS organisations and suppliers should be directed to the CFH DNS team (dnsteam@nhs.net) or the NSS DNS team (nisgtelecom.nss@nhs.net), as applicable.
