Latest news from the GP Next Generation Access programme

The GP Next Generation Access Programme is making good progress.

Core Host Links

New 21CN WBMC host links were delivered in December 2011. January 2012 has seen extensive testing of this new service which resulted in successful Operational Readiness Testing at the end of the month. Plans for February are to complete a pilot migration of N3SP's test domain onto the new host links. Upon successful completion of this activity, N3SP will complete a staged migration of the entire N3 ADSL estate. Resilience testing of the post migrated ADSL estate is provisionally scheduled for early March.

GP NGA - Early Adopters

Once the migration activities to the new WBMC Host links are completed and the N3 extension business case has been approved NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CFH) and N3SP have agreed and are planning the deployment of two hundred Early Adopter sites for GP NGA .These sites have been selected across all Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and include known ‘problem sites' suffering from poor service. The sites in scope have been selected from both the N3-2-71 and N3-2-72 catalogue services. These early deployments are key to proving the new access technology and testing the N3SP end to end deployment processes.

The migration managers of the Early Adopter sites have been contacted to accept the proposed replacement service. N3 have received 132 acceptances so far. Any migration managers who have yet to respond to the invitation to accept the new service should do so as soon as possible to enable the site to be included in the Early Adopter rollout schedule.

New catalogue services

The CRM will reflect the new GP NGA products (N3-2-71, N3-2-72, N3-2-72Q and N3-2-63) by the end of February 2012. All new green field sites or site relocations will automatically receive GP NGA products once the catalogue services are launched on CRM.
